Master's degree Teaching Spanish / Catalan to immigrants

Admission criteria and resolutions

This Master’s Degree course is aimed at:

Primary, Secondary, language school or Official School of Languages Language professors, to whom we would offer some tools in order to carry out their jobs adequately.

  • People who wish to pursue a professional academic track related to the teaching of Castilian or Catalan as foreign languages (being them teachers or preparing didactic materials). These people’s previous training may be quite diverse:

  Philology

  Primary and Secondary Education

  Linguistics

  Social Education

  Journalism

  Pedagogy

  History and Geography

  Psychology

  Arts

  Speech Therapy

  Anthropology

  Social Work

  Sociology

  International Relations

  • People coming from other non-related diploma courses who wish to join this Master’s Degree for professional or personal reasons.
  • People that wish to work as mediators in multicultural situations.

Admission requirements - Access routes

1) The student must be a native speaker or have an accredited aptitude in Spanish/Catalan, i.e. the student must possess a C1 or equivalent certificate. In case that the student cannot accredit his aptitude with a certificate, his linguistic and communicative competence in Spanish or Catalan will be determined by an interview or an aptitude test.

2) The student must be in possession of one of the following degrees: a) PhD, b) diploma c) degree

3) The student must be able to read specialised bibliography in Spanish/Catalan and foreign languages, especially English.

  • Student’s degree record.
  • Personal interview, in the event that there are more people pre-enrolled than places assigned to the master.
  • Autobiographical letter.
  • Knowledge of foreign languages.
  • Aptitude test, in case that the candidate is not a native person or that s/he cannot prove his/her linguistic and communicative competence.

Once the pre-enrolment form is presented, the Commission of Master’s Degree Studies will analyse the application forms taking into account the following criteria:

  • Fulfilment of the specific requirements.
  • Student’s degree record.
  • Knowledge of foreign languages.
  • Aptitude test, in case that the candidate is not a native person or that s/he cannot prove his/her linguistic and communicative competence.

Once all the criteria are revised, and in case there are less pre-enrolment forms than places, the admission will be automatic. If, on the contrary, there are more forms than places, the following criteria will also be taken into account:

  • Personal interview.
  • Autobiographical letter.

The admission criteria will be detailed and announced thorough the different channels of diffusion of the University of Lleida in plenty of time, in case that the demand is higher than the supply.
